A teenage boy was found dead just days after being falsely accused of taking the ashes of a deceased infant during a burglary, an inquest has heard.
Kai Lloyd's mother and father discovered his body in his room at his Connah's Quay home on November 19th, 2021.
The investigation heard how his parent received a message on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a woman inquiring if her son was her child. The communication stated: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my apartment."
In a testimony read to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, claiming her baby's remains had been stolen in a break-in - a allegation which was false.
An official inquiry from authorities later concluded the alleged break-in victim had "provided false information" and "it now appears that the property was not stolen in the first place".
Media reports about the supposed taken remains generated social media comments, and although the teenager was not named in the posts, his mother said individuals "knew it was him".
The "social media content were extremely upsetting", she said.
She added that her son had been identified with mild attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other peoples' opinions really were important to him.
"This must have affected him severely," she commented, "particularly when this was untrue".
Kai was arrested at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later released under investigation.
Police said they would be in touch, the hearing heard, but had not reached out to the family by the time of his passing.
His parent said her son "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "certain periods could feel like days".
When she talked to him about the alleged incident, she said her child told her he had entered the house because the resident who lived there had said he could use the toilet whenever he wanted, but denied taking anything.
In a combined testimony between her and her spouse, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being bullied online after the allegations.
The inquest learned that a 19-year-old encouraged the teenager to end his life.
She had no worries on the evening before he died, explaining how she had heard him "laughing and teasing".
She described him as a "compassionate, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is completely shattered".
He had been "clearly hiding his worries", she said, noting that he could not bear to have anybody "think bad of him".
The hearing received testimony from school personnel at the local High School.
On 8 November, she "overheard some students talking that Kai had been detained and that was the initial I learned".
"He informed me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.
After the conversation, the educator said she rang Kai's family telephone and provided a message saying she had spoken to Kai about the allegations.
The court learned his family said they did not receive that communication.
Senior coroner told the inquest he would wait for documents regarding what enhancements had been made to handling suspects with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of subsequent fatalities report.
Providing a narrative conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsupported accusations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old child.
"Probably untruths were subsequently exaggerated and exaggerated through the medium of social media.
"During November 11th, he was interviewed by the authorities and after his questioning he was released while investigations proceeded."
The official concluded: "Exists no proof that the actions or omissions of any agency led to or added to his passing and although it was the outcome of a personal act it is not possible to determine his intent."
